Melissa Bentley

Western Australian Artist Melissa BENTLEY is best known for her unique style of abstract mixed media techniques. Formally trained in Graphic Design and Advertising, her artworks have been constantly evolving over the last 20 years. 

Melissa likes to examine connections between her imagination, nature, art and her surrounding environment. With her creativity, eye for good colour and using her strong graphic skills, the results are artworks which engages and invites the viewer to experience her unique style, sometimes fully abstract, sometimes partial abstraction. Linear lines and brushstrokes are of importance which hold direct refrences to the landscape. Her large abstract artworks are intended to evoke a feeling of a sense of place.

Melissa paints predominantly in acrylic and oils, while mixing media, she creates a series of layers of translucent colour, form, and texture, which have a visually exciting result.

Working from her studio in South Fremantle Melissa is a lover of our ocean and beach lifestyle, finding bliss in our warmer weather and surrounded by inspiration all of which manages to sneak into her artworks.

Melissa's artwork was selected as a finalist for The Black Swan Heritage Prize 2014, Her artworks are held in State and private collections both internationally and nationally.
